Prayer for the People of Pakistan

We pray for those who have been affected
by the immense flooding in Pakistan.
From the northern mountains
to the southern wheat fields
the rising water has left devastation in its wake.

Compassionate God, have mercy.

Wipe away the tears of those
who have lost their families,
their homes and their livelihoods.

Loving God, hear our cries.

We pray for those battling
to deliver aid and support,
and for the families and friends
of those who are missing or hurt.
Bring the light of hope
into the lives of those who wait.
Stir in us the spirit of compassion
and love for all in need.

God of hope, bring your light to the world.
