Prayer for the People of Bangladesh

We lift our voices in prayer
And unite our hearts in solidarity
with all those whose lives have been devastated by recent natural disasters.

We pray for those who have lost loved ones,
may our prayers embrace them in their grief.

We pray for those who are desperately awaiting rescue,
may our prayers give them strength and the will to hang on.

We pray for the missing who have yet to be identified,
may our prayers guide relief workers to them quickly.

And we pray for all relief workers who face great risks and hazards,
may our prayers keep them safe and help them persevere.

God who hears our cries,
sustain the courage of all those whose lives have been forever changed.

May our prayers lift up those in need to carry them beyond their grief, fear, hunger, and need.
Help us to rally to forces of human generosity and hope.
May all efforts to assist those affected by recent natural disasters be blessed.
May all efforts and prayers ease their suffering and build a foundation for a better day.

• For the people of Bangledesh who suffered a devastating hurricane killing an estimated 10,000 people on November 15, 2007.
• For the people of Chile who suffered an earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Riechter scale on November 14, 2007 leaving an estimated 16,000 people homeless.
• For the people of Congo who suffered massive flooding and landslides on October 26, 2007 displacing more than 2,000.
• For the people of Haiti and the Domincan Republic who are still suffering from the effects of Hurricane Noel November 5, 2007.
