A Prayer for Peace in 2012

We pray for peace in this new year,
The peace of God,
in our hearts,
our communities,
In our country and in our world.

Help us in our struggle to create peace
In our hearts,
to learn to be compassionate
To ourselves and others,
And to surrender our fears to You,
Who created us for peace.

Give us the grace to seek peace
In our communities,
to help us see each other
As sister and brother,
All children of the same God,
Who created us for peace.

Guide us with wisdom
So we may create peace in our nation,
Open to respectful dialogue,
And aware of every citizen’s human dignity,
Given by the God
Who created us for peace.

Grant us the gift
Of being true peacemakers
In the global community,
Careful in our discernments
And just in our decisions,
Under the guidance of Our God,
Who created us for peace.
