Center of Concern: Education For Justice

The word, "pedagogy" refers to art of teaching and the approach or strategies used in teaching.

The ultimate goal of Education for Justice is a metanoia, a fundamental and ongoing conversion of the spirit. The 1971 Justice in the World document from the Synod of Bishops declares that "education demands a renewal of the heart." If education for justice is really to be a transformational and ongoing conversion of the spirit, information sharing is only a part of a wider process.

This section contains selections that explore the nature of authentic education for justice. We welcome suggestions for other selections and for your reflections on these readings and on your own experiences.
